About Playa Herradura
Puntarenas is very conveniently located, with a ferry that jets off regularly to nearby beaches and islands, like the dreamlike Isla de Coco or Nicoya. Playa Herradura, however, leads the bunch with its lot of activity and unmatched tropical scenery. Although the weather is perfect just about year-round (between 70-85 degrees), Herradura is heating up quick as a tourist destination. Herradura's mountainous scenery is equipped with several zip lines and "Aerial adventure parks", from which you can zoom back and forth across breathtaking stretches of mountain valleys decorated with dense rainforest. Adventure is always available, whether it's horseback rides into the jungle or along the beach, catamaran tours to misty nearby islands, or any variety of water sports. There is also a brand new 18-hole golf course, just around the corner from the Marina.
Good Eats on the Beach
Puntarenas its beloved Playa Herradura have no shortage of delicious Costa Rican cuisine. The beaches are dotted with "sodas", beachfront eateries which include the beach view we all want to relax and have a good meal with, without thinning your wallet. The fine diners will of course want to check out The Green Room, Lemon Zest, and El Hicaco, all of which combine fantastic food and beachfront views.
