"Sapodilly" (Unit 1A at the Buttonwood Reserve Oceanfront Condominium Resort) is a lower level unit facing west over the Caribbean for the sunset view. Enjoy stunning ocean views through the eight-foot glass sliders and six-foot bay windows. The expansive private decks also feature spectacular sea views

Buttonwood Reserve has access to two beaches. On the Atlantic side is a world-class, 3-mile-long pink-sand beach, pristine without a single house. It is accessed via our private, golf-carts only driveway. All condominiums at Buttonwood come with access to a fleet of golf carts at no charge. On the Caribbean side of our property, almost in your front yard, is a second beach. This beach is small and rather rocky, so not so aesthetic, but the water is as calm as a lake and this shore is perfect for snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing.

Our resort-style pool is just steps from your condominium. This beautiful landscaped pool is heated for comfortable swimming year round.

We just completed a new pickleball court!

Our mini-gym is equipped with a multifunction smith machine cage with precision linear bearings, an Olympic weight rack, dip station, and a cable routed pulley system. Guests also have access to dumbbells and a fitness/yoga mat. This is an open-air gym (fully roofed and with three walls).

The professionally decorated interior of this condo is modern, warm and comfortable. The east end of the great room features a modern, open-plan, luxurious kitchen finished in stainless steel and black granite. The kitchen, dining area, and living room have magnificent ocean views in every direction, with water sparkling as far as the eye can see.

The master bedroom is features a large upholstered window seat with magnificent panoramic views of the Caribbean, a perfect spot to relax with a book or morning coffee, or watch the sunset over the sea. The master is furnished with a king bed and equipped with an en-suite full bath. The master has a private door leading to the deck over the Caribbean.

The guest bedroom also features a large window seat with a spectacular view, this one overlooking the Atlantic. The bedroom has a full en-suite bath (which can be accessed from the hall as well). It is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a king.

Buttonwood Reserve comes with kayaks and a paddle board for use on the sea or in our pond. Bicycles are also provided for riding around the property or to town, less than a mile away. Our retired groundskeeper, Patrick, is an expert fisherman and will take you out fishing in his boat for a half day or full day (extra charges apply.) Grill your catch fresh on our outdoor gas grill near the pool.

Buttonwood Reserve is a 10 minute walk from three restaurants: Delish, Leorose Sunset Beach Bar and Grill, and Mel's Snack Shack.

Just a mile from Buttonwood Reserve is the village of James Cistern, which has three grocery stores, a town dock where the fisherman bring their catch every day, a produce stand, and Kel D's sports bar. James Cistern is also the home of Stubb’s famous barbecue, now called Tamarind Tree Grill, every Friday and Saturday, which is not to be missed.

Buttonwood Reserve is an easy 15-minute drive from Governor’s Harbour, the main town on the island. Governor’s Harbour has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor.

Other restaurants in the area include Pascal’s at boutique resort Sky Beach Club, Tippy’s (international and fusion), 1648 Bar & Grille at French Leave (fine dining for lunch and dinner), The Buccaneer, The Rainbow Inn (steaks and Monday night brick oven pizza night), the Front Porch, Hot Buns bakery and sandwich shop, and Da Perk Café (café and sandwich shop).

Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is safe and friendly. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class.

Governor's Harbour is the main town on the island of Eleuthera, with a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is safe and friendly. Things To Do in Governors Harbour

For most people who make the trip to Eleuthera, the island of freedom, they come for its peace and serenity -- that feeling of being far removed from the rest of the world. One of the best things about Eleuthera is that you'll almost always have a beach to yourself. And the sand is pink! You can go swimming and snorkeling and see stingrays and other aquatic life here. The Glass Window Bridge is one of the coolest spots to visit on the island. The Ocean Hole is a spot you'll never forget.. read more

"Paradise!
The condo was great! It was very clean.Being able to walk to the Caribbean was amazing. Access to the Atlantic side was also great. Everything we needed for a beach day was there except snorkel gear which we already know to bring. The location was remote, but less than 30 mins to GH and not too far to other beach access locations and restaurants. We walked and rode bikes to JC. All the basic kitchen needs were there. We cooked a lot, so had to improvise some. Golf carts weren’t always charged, but there are several to pick from. Overall, this stay was absolutely paradise!"

"Very nice property with all amenities
Our experience at Buttonwood was exceptional. Staff was super helpful and available everyday on site. The gym could have more equipment and sitting on the balcony in the morning and evening was difficult as the noseeums were very bad at this time of year. The pool and area is beautiful and water temperature very nice. One suggestion would be to cut away the brush from one side of the pickle ball court as when the ball goes in it is difficult to find and the noseeums make a meal of your legs. Your property is one of the nicest properties on the island and very central. "

"Great Stay!!
We loved Buttonwood 1A! The location was close to several nice beaches and JC and Governors Harbor. Buttonwood has all the amenities that we needed. Loved having the golf cart and beach chairs to take to the Atlantic Ocean. The condo was clean and comfortable. "

"Beaches and Exploring
The home was in a perfect location, and had all the amenities needed. We learned years ago that seating was important, and the couches proved to be comfortable and ample for the 4 of us. The beds were very comfortable, and the use of the coolers, and golf cart were a great plus. Bright and Airy would be the best way to describe the views, both inside and out."

"Excellent property in an amazing location.
Excellent location, clean unit, very quiet complex. Having access to both coasts from one spot without having to get into the car was wonderful."

"A hidden gem
I must admit am a bit reluctant to write a review for fear that everyone will learn about the hidden gem that is Buttonwood. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and, after 8 nights, did not want it to end. Everyone has their own preferences, but in our view Buttonwood was the perfect blend of lux comfort, adventure, privacy, and price. We spent mornings on the Atlantic side, in complete privacy for miles to see, shuttling over in the courtesy golf cart that belongs to each condo. We would walk to LeoRose for lunch, which is right on the water on the Caribbean side. Some snorkeling or paddle boarding in the afternoon, 30 yards away, would typically round out our day. The locals are friendly, chatty, and eager to please their island guests. Island visitors should know that Eleuthera is not a well developed island. Electricity outages are not uncommon. Things break down from time to time as a result of sea salt. But after a few days you won't care if you settle into the chill island vibe."

"Even the worst day is brilliant
Yes, yes yes. The condo is everything one would want, size, comfort, cleanliness, amenities. You can't go wrong. Let me share why we would stay again. My husband and I like to rent beachfront houses. Nice ones are expensive so that is typically done with friends. This visit to Eleuthera was just to two of us so we needed something else. Buttonwood Reserve was the perfect fit. In addition to the lovely interior and grounds, what sold us was the golf carts which provided the beach access we desired and bikes which let us ride to the nearby eatery options (all within walking distance really - a mile).

At any rate the worst day there consisted of us packing the golf cart for a beach day on the Atlantic side on a beautifully warm, sunny, breezy day. After arriving and setting up chairs and umbrella we realized it was much more than breezy, it was downright windy. After toughing it out for ten minutes getting sandblasted, we packed up, returning to our condo and setting up shop on the beautiful deck overlooking the Caribbean Sea. There it was warm and sunny with a slight breeze. We laid on the lounge chairs enjoying the sounds of the Caribbean Sea (because it's that close) while sipping cocktails one enjoys during holiday while the sound of the waves and the soft music we played intermingled creating a uniquely perfect symphony. This was followed yet another epic sunset and an evening of star gazing.

The rest of the days were perfect and spent at the beach. So yeah. One can have a lovely place to stay but if the experience isn't there it's just "nice." This was a complete package.

Notes:
I believe Buttonwood was almost full but it was super quiet and we rarely passed anyone.
As with everywhere in the Bahamas, the noseeums are fierce so if sensitive like me, bring the repellent and expect to use it often and liberally.

Brett was fast with communication and Smitty checked on us and brought us an item we requested. 5 star from"

"our getaway to Eleuthera
we have literally been to 50 countries around the world. Eleuthera is a unique island , not your typically all inclusive, easy to get around type of location.

if you plan to drive , please, please make sure you understand the insurance situation of you , your car and your passengers.
i would not recommend you riding bikes on the main road and definitely no walking or running bike after dark.
you need a bit more research than going to a big, more traffic island of the Bahamas "

"Beautiful views!
Buttonwood condominiums are in a good location to get to Governor’s Harbour or points further north (by car). Our unit (1A) had lovely views from the porch and most of the windows. There were plenty of quality bath towels, but only one kitchen towel, so you may want to bring another with you. The washer and dryer worked well, as did the dishwasher and community grill. The management did provide some dishwasher and clothes washer tablets. The pool is lovely. The porch could use a portable stand fan to help drive way the flying bigs when needed. We went to the Atlantic side beach once by golf cart ( too rough to snorkel that day), and the Caribbean side once to try to snorkel for lobster, but no luck. We went to other beaches the other days. The closest restaurant, Leo Rose is a great casual beach dining spot, but be aware they only take cash (the policy for many places). We love Eleuthera! There is a phrase- “Eleuthera-it’s not for everyone”. You need to be the kind of traveler that can “go with the flow” with things like water and power outages, older model but functional rental cars, and hordes of noseeums on occasion. You will be rewarded with beautiful water, deserted beaches, and friendly people!"

"Relaxing in Eleuthera
Buttonwood is a great property and well positioned to enjoy a relaxing vacation in Eleuthera. The property is located very close to James Cistern where there are a few good restaurants (Delish Lifestyle, Mel’s and the local bar) along with grocery stores, a Liquor store and the pier to buy fresh catch each day. Beautiful beaches are both walkable and drivable depending on how far you want to venture and a car is really needed to best enjoy the island."
Sep 18, 2021 - Todd W.

"Clean and Very Comfortable
The condo was very clean and located centrally on the island. It is not close to anything, so be prepared to drive for groceries to get anything semi-decent. There is East and Final Grocery and a liquor store close by, but the best grocery store closest is Burrows, in Gov. Harbor, which is 15 minutes away at least. The beach shown in the picture is rocky and you have to cross a highway to access it. We chose to visit other beaches that were less rocky and easier to access: Ten Bay Beach, Cape Eleuthera, and various pull-offs along the way. Gas stations are few and far between, so make sure when you see one, fill up! Brett was terrific and is on property most all of the time and will answer questions and fix things as needed. The condo is well decorated and comfortable. The furniture in the picture on the deck is no longer there, unfortunately, as we were on a working vacation. Instead, there are now white Adirondack chairs, which makes it hard to work from your laptop. There are floaties and some lounge chairs for general use. We did not go to the pool and only used the golf cart once, as we are not Atlantic Ocean kind of folks. Lovely stay."

"Stunning ocean views - Across the street from the beach
This was our first time in Eleuthera. Well the island was a little different than we expected it would be, the rental was as pictured. Use of the golf cart with the property was a great bonus amenity. Day trips to Spanish Wells, Harbor Island, Eco tours, snorkeling, and re-fishing charters, made our stay exciting and time flew by. Make sure to rent a car at the airport it’s almost an hour away from the rental. Your best bet is requesting four-wheel-drive jeep. We were able to contact the property rental company who helped us connect with a car rental agency."

"Fantastic Family Vacation
Our family of 15 had Building 1 to ourselves. It was perfect as we had evening meals together but also had some private time with their own family. We thank all the Buttonwood staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We absolutely loved both the oceans. They offered a different experience. The experience of having an entire beach to ourselves was amazing. Even the beaches we visited outside of Buttonwood we had to ourselves. We scheduled a tour of our making and the grandchildren were thrilled with the wild pigs, feeding the turtles and seeing starfish up close. We feel very lucky to have such wonderful family memories."

"Fabulous sunsets!
We enjoyed our stay at Buttonwood Reserve during Christmas. The cottage was lovely with great amenities from the outdoor deck overlooking the ocean, to the pool, landscaped grounds, and private beach with its own shipwreck. "

One of the finest places I've had the pleasure of staying. The place is beautiful and the Sonya the property manager is even more so! I celebrated my 50th birthday at the property and could not have stayed at a better location. Close to the beach and the property is very well maintained. Looking forward to staying here again. Also the place ankeny to ro accommodate large groups "

"Very remote, trash on the beach, rough waters and too many bugs ,
I have never written a bad review but need to share my nightmare. This was our first visit to Eluethera and the last. Our family has traveled throughout the Caribbean; USVI, BVI, Culebra, Vieques, St. Lucia and Martinique. We stayed at Buttonwood Reserve from April 11, to April 25th 2018. Buttonwood has beautiful breezes and lovely views. The people of Eluethera are friendly, kind, and the island feels safe. The unit was fairly clean and the beds are very comfortable. Leo Rose Beachside restaurant is very close (less than a mile) with good local food,Rainbow Inn is fabulous. My daughter and her boyfriend swam at Buttonwood Beach and snorkeled on the Caribbean side. The shore is not protected and was quite rough on most days. She made the mistake of not using bug spray on Buttonwood Beach at noon. Her legs are still infected with sand flea bites. We were unable to sit on either deck without pesky wasps and bees. There were ongoing problems related to structural flaws in the building, neglected maintenance, holes in screens, bugs in condo, broken running toilet in guest bath, hornets nests under the stairs of 1A and between 1C and 1D outside the building. Our attempts to cook resulted in hundreds of flies both outside on grill (holes in screen) as well as inside with all doors and windows closed. My husband called to report and was told to drive to James Cistern and buy spray. The new maintenance man met with my husband (initially dismissed flies on the island "common”) but did note the drain holes in the glass sliding door as an entry and plugged. Matt offered to move us however it was very close to our departure and we did not have the energy. I slipped on crushed limestone in G. Harbor resulting in stiches and infection."

"Beautiful Place
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful property, well maintained. My second stay at Buttonwood and I will definitely stay again"

"Beautiful property!
My group rented the entire complex and everyone absolutely loved it. All of the units are virtually the same and the pictures are very accurate. Some units are better decorated than others. I probably would choose 1B next time as the view was similar but it was decorated better."
