Mon Soleil House sits directly on French Leave Beach, a mile long crescent of pink sand and palm trees that has been ranked top 20 in the world. French Leave Beach is famously well protected by a barrier reef which keeps the surf calm and the water perfectly clear. There are only 7 houses along the full length of this wide, beautiful beach. Mon Soleil is literally 50 feet from the beach. You can’t get any closer to the sand and the water.

Mon Soleil is under new ownership and is scheduled for a full remodel in the fall of 2025. In the meantime, we are offering the property at a modest rent for guests who want this ideal beachfront location and don’t object to the dated elements, including the original 1980's kitchen.

Mon Soleil is located on the Banks Road of Governors Harbour, the most prestigious location on Eleuthera, and just one mile from town. Governors Harbour, the main town on the island, has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. It has a nice little collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking a picturesque harbor. You can buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour is a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street. You won’t want to miss it.

Mon Soleil’s main level features a great room with tall windows and glass doors looking out over French Leave Beach and the ocean. The dining table seats 6 and enjoys a beach and ocean view through a wall of glass. The kitchen features a large pass through to the great room and is equipped with a refrigerator, range, oven, and microwave. There is a powder room off the great room, plus an outdoor shower.

Upstairs, Mon Soleil has two bedrooms plus a sleeping loft, and can sleep up to 6. The master has a king bed. The guest bedroom has twin beds. The sleeping loft is furnished with a queen bed. There is a full bathroom upstairs.

Outside, walk out your back door and onto world-famous French Leave Beach with its mile of soft pink sand. Mon Soleil also has a large patio for dining.

Amenities include central AC, WIFI, Apple/Smart TV, washer/dryer, gas grill, 4 lounge chairs, and one kayak.

Nearby Activities in Governors Harbour

Governor's Harbour is the main town on the island of Eleuthera, with a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is safe and friendly. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks and bikes. There is excellent sightseeing, as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, and a bottomless ocean hole.

Things To Do in Governors Harbour

For most people who make the trip to Eleuthera, the island of freedom, they come for its peace and serenity -- that feeling of being far removed from the rest of the world. One of the best things about Eleuthera is that you'll almost always have a beach to yourself. And the sand is pink! You can go swimming and snorkeling and see stingrays and other aquatic life here. The Glass Window Bridge is one of the coolest spots to visit on the island. The Ocean Hole is a spot you'll never forget.. read more

"Great Location - we loved the little place!
We enjoyed seven nights at Mon Soleil. Our purpose for the visit was to simply relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and water. The location on a French Leave Beach is nearly perfect. The property next door (Lush Life) hosts larger groups and also hosts a boat ramp access - so we did see groups on the beach next to us nearly every day. I would not count that as a negative, but while in a great location it is not as “solitary” as one might think. The house looks exactly like the pictures and was clean. The five gallon water dispenser was a nice perk. There were plenty of beach towels and we brought our own umbrella. It is a short drive to town for groceries at Burrows or a nice meal at “the Buccaneer Club,” or a short drive the other way to “Tippy’s” for a nice meal. We made several meals at the house and found the kitchen equipped adequately, but no more. The manager was very responsive to questions and needs were promptly addressed. The broker was upfront that the property is in need of updating ... and indeed it is ... but it met our needs. With big windows the view to the rear gardens and beach is just captivating. The power went out daily ... as did the internet, even when the power was on. The television takes a while to warm up for the picture to be viewable. The local drivers were a bit too aggressive and haughty in my opinion. There are many blind corners and potential places to have an accident. Pulling onto Banks road from the driveway is one. Parking at Burrows groceries is complete chaos. The Governors Harbour airport screeners have quite the attitude. Not typical. So ... otherwise, typical Bahamas “out islands” ... come with sober expectations and enjoy the beautiful beach and water. "

"1st Bahamas Vacation
Mon Soleil was exactly what we hoped for! We were searching for a simple and laidback home in the very best location and that’s just what we got. As advertised the property needs some updating, but the location and overall feel are exceptional. The beach is literally steps away from the house which is nestled within the most picturesque palm trees and tropical vegetation. We even harvested daily coconuts from our backyard, delicious! One of our favorite snorkeling spots was right off our beach at Nix Cay.
The central location of Governor’s Harbor is ideal for exploration, north and south.
Our family of five (with 3 adult kids) had plenty of room and privacy.
100% we would be happy to rent Mon Soleil again. "

"Cute spot on beautiful beach
Mon Soleil was perfect for a short getaway. While the property is a bit dated, the view, location and beach are fantastic. Perfect for one couple or a couple and two kids based on bedroom layout. As long as you’re not looking for high end or modern, this is a great, more budget friendly option for the Governors Harbour area. "

"Location is everything and Mon Soleil has the location.
We enjoyed our vacation at Mon Soleil. Close to Governor’s Harbour and located on beautiful French Leave Beach. Gorgeous view from the house and deck. Just a few steps from the beach. House is clean, rustic, and we felt the price was reasonable. Kitchen is dated but well equipped and appliances worked. AC is cold. If you want brand new amenities this is not the rental for you. "

"Beachfront Oasis
My wife and I spent a very relaxing and restful 2 weeks at Mon Soleil. The beach is fabulous, long pink sand with very few people. The cottage had everything we needed, although as the owners say, the kitchen is a bit outdated, but everything worked. Our only real suggestion would be to provide a couple of chaise lounges"

"Mon Soleil Rental
Very disappointed : the pictures of the house were awsome, the reality quite different.
House building needs a serious rebuilt (lots of dammage are visible from the outside)
Access to the beach is a mess: lot’s of glass pieces and garbage on the ground
Regarding the interior : house keeping was ok but everything is old thus dirty (toilets, kitchen etc...)
We dudn’t like at all."

"LOVELY BEACH HOUSE ~ RIGHT ON THE BEST BEACH !
Our first time abroad for two years thanks to Covid so a great escape and we had a fabulous first week here and loved being right on the beach which was beautiful and deserted and long enough to have a half hour walk to the end. We even had a fisherman launching/landing off the nearest rocks so was able to buy some whole fish he'd just caught, to put on the BBQ.
We realise the house is being upgraded so didnt have high expectations but everything was fine, clean and worked, except the outside shower (pointed out so sure is fixed now). Manager really kindly got us some more powerful bedside lamps to read by so that was fantastic service ! But lovely space and perfect for our family of four. Fun having two kayaks, one which leaked (luckily it wasnt me in it !)but they are aware and sure it will be replaced by now ~

"Cozy, beachy but in need of some TLC
Overall, we had a good experience. The property is ideally located on the beach with plenty of snorkeling areas. Easy access to restaurants, food stores and other essential services. However, the living quarters are cramped and the house is very much in need of renovations. "
