"Islander 5008
This rental is in a good location but needs to have the ceiling repaired, carpet replaced and ac repaired before it is rented again. The popcorn ceiling falls off onto the floor, bed, couch etc. You vacuum up but there is always ceiling on the floor. There is a bad smell to the unit which is covered up by a plug in air freshener which is worse. The carpet is nasty dirty and in need of replacement. The ac unit could not keep up and subsequently failed 5 days into the stay. The property management was quick in response and moved us to a different unit which turned out to be an absolute blessing. When you compare the first unit to the second unit, we were horribly overcharged and believe we are due compensation. We believe this is not a new and unknown problem - it needs to be rectified before it is rented again.

"Horrible smell
This room was in need of a major update. It had old carpet that smelled so bad it was hard to stay in one of the rooms. This 1st day there I had to hide a large bathroom rug in the closet to try to help with the smell. It smelled like it had probably been peed on multiple times. The 2nd bedroom carpet was so bad I couldn’t enter the room without gagging. One of my girls had to sleep with us and the other on the sofa sleeper. The building was in a great location and we enjoyed the pool area and beach service. We would probably stay here again but definitely in a different unit. We booked last minute and now I understand why this unit was still available. "

"Relaxing getaway
This is the first time we have stayed in November and was worried may be too cold. 65 and sunny was the perfect weather for us Missouri people. Able to get in the pool 2 days and only get a hint of a sunburn. The condo was great. The carpet was so nice to have on the cool nights. Great stay as always. I will have to remember this condo for next visit. "

"Great Beach Trip
Our experience with Brooks and Shorey and the Islander was great. The employees of both were a pleasure to deal with and Brooks and Shorey made sure we were all set when it came time to check in. The condo complete was nice and well maintained and easy beach access. The 2 chairs per condo were a treat and the beaches and water were pristine. The condos were all well stocked - especially 5008, they had everything from kitchenware to extra blankets. Only negative would be the sofa bed mattress it wasn't even comfortable for kids to sleep on. that needs to be changed if you are going to advertise sleeping capacity. Honestly an air mattress would have been better. Otherwise will definitely be back and use Brooks again!"

"Just lovely
We had a wonderful experience. It was our second time staying at the islander. We loved being close to everything and having a quiet place to relax at the same time. The views were amazing. Loved that it was oceanfront. It was clean and had everything guests would need if you chose to cook. We took our grandkids and they loved it as well. It’s great for couples or families. Check in was easy peasy. Will most likely stay here again. "

"Never disappointed
My wife and I have stayed at the Islander resort many times in the past. We have stayed at Different rooms here and are happy with all of them. 5008 was pretty nice though some things were a little dated. Otherwise the view and the wide panoramic view of the ocean is better then most of the other condos we've stayed along Ft Walton beach. The condo was well stocked with cookware and dishes. We had to call Brookes and Shorey for a beeping smoke detector which they took care of promptly and replaced all the other ones while they were there. We took advantage of the free Sea blaster sunset dolphin cruise which we do every year. Beach service was great as usual. My wife and I look forward to our stay here almost every year. Just bring a few batteries for the remotes. Never know when they will die. As usual Brookes and Shorey does a great job. Overall a great condo. Would stay there again."

great view and location,nice condo but needs some up grades.Couch and love seat are old,brown carpet is stained,sliding glass door hard to open and close,had to use some wd 40.Very pricey.Paid twice as much as we paid at Pelican Isle last year."

"Great first family vacay
Condo was great for our first family vacay (mom, Dad, nine year-old). This place had plenty of space to stretch out when we had too much togetherness.
We walked into a clean condo and we found it very user-friendly and available. You overlook the pool, and the ocean view is awesome.
We utilized most of the amenities-there were lots of extra kitchen appliances if wr needed them. We cooked most nights or warmed up leftovers.
Our family would love to stay here in the future. My kiddo loved the pool too much!
Notes on stay:
-Bring your own bath towels. We were only provided two for our group of three. Shampoos and soaps were included.
-Make sure the washer lid is pushed all the way down. Laundry detergent was included. W/D is located behind the very first door on the left when walking in.
-No recycling on-site
-No extra blankets in the condo so bring your own
-Hair dryers were included in each bathroom
-Beach chairs and umbrellas were set up each morning and removed in the afternoon by staff
-Pool was cleaned each day by staff
-A coke vending machine was on the first floor
-Parking was great (one of my big anxiety triggers) but the lot was big and we could park our F-150 just fine
-Be up by 7 am to see the dolphins

"Super Condo!
We stayed at 5008 for 2 weeks and loved every minute of it. The condo is well-appointed and comfortable. The balcony is amazing and where we spent a lot of our time. The pool and ocean beach are incredible. Love, Love , Loved it! "

"Perfect weekend getaway for relaxation
The condo was very clean and had a beautiful view on the beach. Our balcony was one of our favorite spots to sit and listen to the waves splash onto the shoreline. We will definitely plan a trip to this location again in the future"

"Week stay
Was very disappointed that there was no salt and pepper or other simple seasonings. In the master bathroom the sink didn't drain well and the toilet didn't flush sometimes. The sofa that made out into a bed when we undid it it had trash in it. Found multiple dirty dishes and silverware in cabinet. The door leading to the balcony was very dangerous. It has a bit hump over which one of our family members fell over that.

"Loved our stay
We LOVED our stay in the Islander 5008. It was incredibly comfortable and quiet. The large patio was a favorite spot for all of us and we enjoyed watching the dolphins in the morning. It was so great to walk right out to the pool and beach with our young kids. The free chairs and umbrella on the beach were so convenient and comfortable, and the attendants were very friendly and helpful. We were able to check in/out digitally and didn't have to worry about when the office would be open, etc. We would definitely book this spot again! "

"Great Get Away!
We took a ladies trip down for 4 days and very much enjoyed our condo. It was directly on the beach which was amazing! The views were great in the morning. Nice big balcony to view the beautiful ocean. The condo was equipped with everything we needed. I would definitely stay at this property again. The staff was very friendly! Jason even helped up blow up out floats. Thank you for a great experience!"

"Sunny & Beautiful
Brooks & Shorey never disppoints, we had a blast as always, one thing I would recommend is adding a couple of skillets and pots to the condo, this unit didn't have much to cook in as much as the others we have stayed in. Also The Shack is a must! It was our first time trying it and we loved it, as always we love Floyds Shrimp House as well! Rent a pontoon from Tru Blue, it's so worth it! See y'all next year :)"

"Islander review
The Islander is great. We have stayed there for last 15 years. Brooks and shorey was great. This particular condo was not as as nice with regards to amenities as others we have stayed in. We would go back to the islander but definitely would choose a different condo. "

"Granddaughter Heaven in Ft Walton
We had a very good vacation experience. We did not have to wait till 4 o’clock to get in our room, which was a great thing considering how hot it was LOL.
The room was very clean, and very well equipped with exactly what we needed.
We loved everything, but especially loved the bar height table and chairs on the deck. It allowed us to see the ocean even more clearly!"

The condo was extremely nice and spacious. They had carpet in the bedrooms and living room which we liked. The beds were very comfy and the room itself was very very clean. I would recommend this condo for any group of 6 or less. "

"Cheaply Furnished
This was NOT the rental I reserved. I had to be moved at the VERY last minute. The furniture is very cheap and in rough shape. The central air unit freezes up VERY easily!
Its obvious the owner put the cheapest and the bare minimum of EVERYTHING just to rent it out for maximum money! I do not recommend this unit."

The condo was pretty well clean and equipped. The dryer was real loud. The elevators were slow and not cleaned each day. I kept getting parking notes telling me I needed a parking pass each day even though I had my parking pass displayed in the windshield. The condo has good value, but the facility could use some updating and cleaning. "

"Beach getaway for Memorial Day
Our stay at Islander 5008 was great. The view from the balcony is amazing (we saw dolphins our last morning there) and the access to the beach is super easy, which was important with a 2 yr old. The condo was clean when we got there and we had everything we needed. My only two suggestions would be to upgrade the mattress in the guest bedroom, it is super hard and uncomfortable (the one in tbe master is very comfortable) and fix the light over the kitchen table, it didn't work the whole time. But our stay was great and we would stay at the Islander when we come back to the area."

"5 day stay
The unit was nicely updated with a good floor plan, it was recently remodeled. the rental process, checkin, check out, all extremely easy. The location is great, views amazing! We did not have the best of weather so the balcony and view from the windows mesnt alot. my only critism is the bedroom we stayed in was very musty smelling. Its humid in Florida, i aired it out with the ceiling fans during the day. "

The rental was perfect for my family. We loved the view and found the rental to be in the perfect location. It was not crowded like Destin and that was a plus. Check in and check out were smooth processes. We would love to come back again.
My only suggestion would be to upgrade thread count on bed sheets. They were rough for the amount of money you pay to rent it. "

"My Fall Vacation
The rental agent and check-in experience were great. The beach was beautiful as always and there were plenty of chairs and unbrellas available for use. Overall the room was OK. the kitchen was stocked with utencils and the beds had fresh linens but were not comfortable. the bathrooms need work. The exhaust vents were couated with dirt and hairspray and barely worked. The hair dryers provided (both bathrooms) did not work. toenail trimmings and long dark hairs were found on the floor and the sinks were not very clean. But at least the elevators worked fine this trip."

"Great Beaches and area
My wife and I enjoyed our stay in the Ft. Walton area. Lots to do and great weather. The perks included were excellent, golf, beach lounge and umbrellas were gratefully received. One suggestion for improvement. The "Welcome Bag" given by the rental agent was extremely lacking. On a recent weeks condo stay in Florida Keys the welcome bag contains small bottle of coffee mate, tea bags, coffee, micro popcorn and numerous discount coupons. "

This condo is in the perfect location. Beautiful straight line views of the beach and the pool. The unit was clean and very functional. Lots of extras in the kitchen (George Foreman the, toaster oven, blender, etc). Plenty of room. We would definitely stay again."

"Four Night Stay
We were very much fans of this place! We used to stay at a different property on Santa Rosa Island, but we could only stay four nights and their reservations were for a week minimum. We were not disappointed with our switch to the Islander! The first thing we noticed upon walking in was how fresh and clean everything smelled and looked. The sheets and towels were pristine and we found no problems with the unit at all. They took care to provide everything that was needed, for example most places only provide one dishwashing gel but there were three or four in the unit here.
We loved the beach service and the keyless entry to the condo and the pool was well-maintained. We will definitely stay again."
