Cancellations to any reservation results in forfeiture of $200.00 advance rent deposit. Changes to the booking have to be made Thirty (30) days prior to arrival for Short Term reservations. Sixty (60) days prior to arrival for Monthly reservations. Once final balance is paid there are NO REFUNDS due to cancellation. If you have purchased Travel Insurance with CSA you would need to contact them with questions regarding claims.1-866-4018

"2nd visit
My family returned for a second year and we're really not people who complain but this unit was bad, the floors were never mopped, the furniture is disgusting zero hot water, after running it for 20 minutes. 1 roll of toilet paper, zero sponges or anything to clean anything with.The storms I guess kicked up a bunch of algae on the beach so the water wasn't an option so we had to drive to another area in destin to enjoy the beach which obviously isn't in your hands. The condo as mentioned wasn't great and won't be getting that unit again, we were so disappointed we ledt a day early. But we are still plan on returning next year as we really do like the property as a whole just not this unit."

"Beware of hidden charges
Not a bad place overall, clean, but no paper towels or dish soap, beach chairs were garbage, only 2 rolls of toilet paper for 3 people 4 nights, had to buy a fry pan because the ones there were garbage! "

"HORRID
I would give zero stars if I could. Our family has used for 20 years. It began by the property manager informing me of a leak that required a hose to be run into the only bathtub in the unit. Ok fine. Additionally she lied stating there were “No other rooms available on the island.” We arrived at the unit to see it was filthy, unsanitary, and unsafe for us and our two children under 2. Rusty bathtub, mold on the ceiling, broken window blinds that didn’t work. We will not be back and truly disgusted with this company. "

"A good place to stay
Overall, the condo was as described. The deadbolt didn’t work from the outside...you could only lock it if you were in the condo. It was definitely more than 30 yards from the beach, but still not a bad walk to get there. We had a good time and I would stay here again. "

"Nice condo, close to the beach!
This condo is a nice location just steps away from the beach, the two pools were clean and easy to get to. They are located at the very end of the strip so there is no traffic beyond your condo. The condo was clean, mostly updated however it’s considered a home away from home so you have to wash your towels if your run out, bring all your cleaning, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dishwasher pods, dish soap.. ect because it is not provided to you. There’s washing machines on each level and it’s $1.50 to wash and dry so something to keep in mind if your staying a whole week and want clean bath towels and dish towels. Overall this was a nice quiet place, the kitchen is nice to have to cook breakfast and lunch and not have to eat out so much! "

"Great Stay
IT was a really good experience. The Property is really nice and an amazing location. The Condo itself had a few issues. The Sliding back door was in rough shape and really hard to open and close. The Fan in the Master was a lil sketchy. and A few of the Doors to the Pantry and Closet were in rough shape. Other than that, Great experience!"

"El Matador -117
El Matador- 117 was a great rental experience for my family of four. We have two Children (5&2) and this location was perfect. No Elevators needed to get to the room and a short walk to the pool and beach. The condo itself was in great condition and comfortably fit our family! The floors were a bit dirty/sandy, but that’s to be expected on a first floor condo near the beach. There was some minor maintenance that was needed, but did not hinder our stay at all. The outdoor space outside the condo also allowed a grassy area for our kids to run around in. I highly recommend this condo for families traveling and looking for a nice relaxing vacation. If we head back to the pan handle we will absolutely consider this condo again. "

"Great Family Getaway
This was a great and affordable vacation for our family of four. The place is in a close location to the beach. Just walk out of the unit and down the path to the beach. It is an older place, but it has been renovated and was clean. It had a “retro/ Old Florida” feel to it and we liked that too. Lots of grassy areas for families to grill out or relax and watch the sunset. We did have some issues with the internet, but someone came right away from the realty company to fix. Very family friendly place and we would stay here again. "

"Unit needs update
Love the El Matador complex. Looks like they stepped up their game. Grounds were neat, pools were clean. Love the area. Beach was superb. The water was the best I've seen in years. No seaweed or jellyfish. However, this unit is very old and outdated. Was certainly adequate, but not up to the standards of others. Have rented about a dozen units over the years and this was by far the worst."

"Our stay at 117 El Matador
Our experience was pretty good. The place could use some updating, but served our purpose well. There was a bad smell when we first walked in the door (later deduced that it was the vent a hood filter) but we sprayed room deodorizer and was better after that. And I there needs to be places on the patio to hang things.
All in all it was a good place to do the beach (which is further than 50 yards, but still close)."

"The Low down
We enjoyed our stay. El Matador as a whole was great and our unit 117 was decent. The only complaints were the unit needs to get rid of that nasty carpet and ideally have all tile floors. Also the outdoor furniture was terrible and the plastic chairs almost collapsed while sitting in them. "

"fulks return to el matador
as i have said before my mother discovered the el matador in the early seventies when i believe it was new .This place became our home away from home 2 to 3 times a year.our last last trip was around july 2002 my family stayed in 414 and my mother had her all time favorite room 415 i believe was the number .its the one closest to beach in bldg 4 . well shortly after that trip my mother was diagnosed with cancer and past away in november and since then i have been able to return until this year .it was such a wonderful trip that has soon as we got home and settled in my daughter and i were planing our next trip .my daughter suggested somewhere else less costly i said no the EL Matador is a special place for me and always will be as long as i live . "

"A nice unit
The unit is old, but nice. The furniture on the balcony is plastic and very old, but we never used it anyways. Also, there was a problem with lights -- some of them were accidentally not working. But overall the unit is nice and if any problems occur they will fix them quickly."

"do not stay in 117!!!
It was so gross that we wouldn't let the baby crawl on the floor. Stains on carpet/chairs, the front door was impossible to open/shut, and we found a fingernail clipping on one of the dressers. It grossed me out just to think about it. Thankfully, we were able to change to a much nicer unit ... but lamely we had to pay $40. "

"Spring Break 2013
We have stayed at the El Matador many times, but this was by far the worst condo we have ever been in. Most of the appliances were old and in disrepair, and some did not work at all. The entire condo appeared as though it had not had a good cleaning in several years. The sliding glass door took 2 people to pull it open and the front door barely stayed shut. The windows that did open would not stay open. The new vacuum had so much dirt clogged in it, it did not work and once I got the dirt out I found a sock stuck in the brush and then a broken belt. When I turned on the old bag vacuum all it did is create more dirt to clean up. When we pulled the bed out of the sofa it would appear no one had ever cleaned under it or any of the other furniture. There were old beer bottle caps on top of the refrigerator and the TV's were very old tube sets. The internet worked if you wanted to sit on the floor by the TV because only a short cord was available to use. The WIFI did not work because the power unit was burned out. Only one plugged worked on almost every outlet in the condo leading me to believe code enforcement should have been called in order to make it safe for people to stay in the building. The beds were also extremely uncomfortable. Luckily we had other relatives staying in much nicer units and had good weather so we did not have to spend too much time in our unit. The El Matador is a nice place to stay, but don't stay in unit 117."
