Beautifully decorated and clean. Especially loved the updated kitchen and shower in the bathroom! The only glitch was the sofa . It wasn’t comfortable and should really be replaced! Management company was a dream!!"

"Updated, Clean and great Location
Check in was very easy - office was easy to pull into and to get out of. Same for easy check out -take trash out, lock up and just dropped the keys into the dropbox. The staff was so nice and welcoming.
Location is in Building 2 - very easy walk with your chair and beach bag to the beach Or you could use the beach service.
The unit is updated and was very clean- no mold in the shower. The couch needs to be updated- would be my only suggestion.
Kitchen was well stocked with all kinds of pans, cutlery, dishes. Remember to bring -papertowels, soft toilet paper, dishwasher soap if you plan on cooking alot at the condo, other wise they provide toilet paper(a little rough), two dishwasher tabs.
Trash is at the end of the building- u have to lift the garage door to get to the dumpster. Was not labeled so a little difficult to locate.
The beach is so soft with white sands - the view looking toward the Air Force land is the best, untouched view. Do not walk on the Air Force land - the warnings are real, 4 people got tickets while I was there $95 a person. It doesn't matter if you are walking in the surf, waterline or beach - you will get a ticket. New commander in charge and he is a stickler for the rules.

"Family Vacation 2022
My husband has vacated at the El Matador for 45 years and it's been 20 years for me. My son is continuing the tradition with his family. This was the 1st year for my grandson. (9 mo) He LOVED the white sand and clear beach water. We have stayed in many units over the years and 215 was one of the best! It was very clean and cozy. My son stayed in building 4 on a top floor. We hung out on our porch and the baby had a great time playing in the grass. I will definitely request this unit again!!"

Everything was really nice in this unit. Kitchen fully stocked with everything to prepare meals. Only complaint was the floors were not very clean. The first night there after walking around barefoot, we had black feet just from inside. Also owner might leave instructions on how to operate television and a guide to access quickly would be helpful . "

"Fantastic Vacation
This condo was fantastic. It was beautiful inside and we felt at home there. There was everything you can imagine in the kitchen. I have never seen so many different utensils. All you have to do is bring your food. The location was great, just a short walk to the pool and the beach. We definitely will rent this condo next year.

"The Perfect "Get Away!"
I look forward to coming back to this condo every year. It is peaceful and beautifully decorated - definitely a beach atmosphere. For me, that it is on the ground floor, is a big plus.
Although there must be a fair number of people staying at the complex, there isn't that crowded feeling.
And the beach is amazing - clean, with long peaceful walks and swimming conditions that suit everyone's ability.
This property is very well managed, clean and tidy. Everybody is super helpful and utterly professional"

"Good First Time Condo Experience
The condo was beautifully furnished and overall clean. We didn't take advantage of all the extras, like the sauna and hot tub, but the beach access was awesome. We did have a few issues with "palmetto bugs" . In Tennessee we call them big roaches. Also there appeared to be mold around the vent in the bathroom. The a/c unit was very noisy inside and out (a design issue that cannot be fixed) and made sitting on the patio unpleasant. Couldn't even hear the surf 100 yards away. Even though the condo was overall nice, we will probably shop around for a different unit next time. Also, couch frame was broke, the recliner almost impossible to return to closed position and the vertical blinds in the living room area was broken. The noisy a/c was my biggest issue, keeping me awake a lot."

I was very clean, except when we got in the condo. It had a weird smell to it. I had dropped something on the floor and when I bent down to look under the bed. There was a dirty diaper under the bed. Other than that, we absolutely loved everything about this condo. Very clean, kept up with, and had everything we needed. "

"Nice, but Probably Wouldn't Stay Here Again
I actually thought this condo was better in person than in pictures. The pictures don't really highlight the space offered in this 1 bedroom condo. The pros of this unit were definitely the ground floor location (we have a toddler), the finishes, decor, everything included in the kitchen, and so on. We did find the mattress on the pull-out sofa to be VERY uncomfortable. My daughter only slept on it once and simply couldn't do it another night. Also, when we took the cushions off to pull out the mattress, there was a large amount of crumbled food (think chips, cheez its, so on) on top of it. We suspect that this played a role in what turned out to be by far the biggest disappointment of the trip: Roaches. We stayed Saturday to Saturday (actually left Friday night), and the only day I did not wake up to find at least one roach belly-up on the kitchen floor was Friday. It was really disappointing to have this problem. For that reason alone, I would not stay in this unit again.
The team at Alicia J. Hollis was really nice to work with. They made themselves available prior to and after office hours. Very seemless check in and check out working with this group. However, I did inform them about the roach issue mentioned above and did not receive any kind of respnse, which was slightly disappointing (I'm not sure what could've been done, but any kind of response would've been nice).
The location of the El Matador was great. It's at the end of the strip and is fantastic for fishing and catching crabs at night. The weather wasn't great for our trip, so we only got to fish a few times, but again, if you're into surf fishing, the location here is prime. The facility itself is a little dated, so if you're wanting to stay in a newer place, with a little more modern ammenities, this may not be the place for you (speaking to the El Matador as a whole. 215 is appropriately updated)."

El Matador 215 is a beautifully kept, clean unit on the first floor. We've stayed in this unit many times after staying in different units over the 17 years we've been visiting Okaloosa Island. We will stay here each time it's available in the future, no question!! (Chris and Amanda) are wonderful to work with and we consider them friends after all the years we've worked with them! They are friendly, courteous and always willing to cater to our needs! Another great vacation from these annual beach goers!"

Our stay at El Matador 215 was very enjoyable. The condo was just as it looks in the picture and well appointed. The kitchen was fully stocked. The bed very comfortable and at garden level. We enjoyed having our cocktail on the patio area. The beaches at Fort Walton are some of the best in the country. Enjoyed dinner at the Bay Cafe very much! All in all a beautiful vacation."

"Excellent location - Excellent unit!
The rental experience was seamless, no issues at all - the realtor was experienced and professional. The rental unit itself was better than expected - i would propose that more photos are taken of the inside of the rental to give potential renters a better visual of the finishings and amenities, current photos dont do the place any justice. The kitchen is completely kitted out, top to bottom and didnt want for anything, everything that we needed was there. Flat screen TV`s in both the lounge and master bedroom including sattelite TV, something we didn't know. The rental unit also has its own dedicated internet which was excellent. Only issue i had during my entire stay was that the AC repairman simply walked into the unit while we were in it, wife was in the bathroom and kids in the lounge, dad was fishing. I find it completely unacceptable that people are allowed to come into the units unscheduled. My wife complained about this and got the "oh, its maintenance" - i don't care if its maintenance, not allowing you to put my family at risk while you cant organize your maintenance properly. No apology from the realtor either. The mattress on the pull out couch for the kids needs to be replaced, it digs into a 6yr olds back - we had to pad it with blankets to make it ok for her to sleep on. Other than those issues its a great unit, really nice and walking distance to the beach."

"Florida Winter Trip - 2014
This was our first stay in the Fort Walton Beach area. This beautiful area really welcomes Snowbirds with many activities and events. This condo was nicely updated and clearly the most well-equipped condo we've rented. The facility is well kept, and a beautiful setting on the beach. I wish for in-unit washer & dryer, or some improved functionality in the laundry rooms, i.e. a folding table would be appreciated. Also, we'd have liked a key to the spa for a long-term renter, even if it required a deposit. The property manager is the best we've dealt with. Everything was as stated. They were very responsive when called. We had no real issues, only questions and clarifications. While the weather wasn't all we'd hoped for, the beauty and welcome of the community are superior to previous experiences. We will return, and we'll definitely use as our property manager.
