"Carnelian Bay Condo
We had a good experience in general. However, we did have a few hiccups:
Instructions for the TV did not work the way it said. I had to figure it out on my own (input had been changed to something different).
No mat in the shower. Very slippery, and we are 80 and 65 years old. At the sametime, not sticky mat under the kitchen carpet. Again, slippery.
For two days, the roof was being replaced. No notice, no email, no text. Even a "sticky note" on the front door telling us that the roof was going to be replaced. We could have rearranged our days out to be away from the noise.
GFCI plug in the bathroom is worn out. Things would not stay on when plugged in. It needs to be replaced. My husband is a Union Electrician, and he knows what he is talking about.
No A/C in the unit. Generally, wouldn't be needed. However, bedroom was on the main floor. With the proliferation of bear warnings, we couldn't leave a window slightly open at night. So the unit would become somewhat stuffy overnight. I would open all the windows first thing in the morning to get air moving.
No notepad or pencil. I just needed to make a couple of notes for the grocery store. That became difficult.
We had a good time. But, like I said, a few hiccups."

"Wonderful Time in Beautiful Carnelian Bay
The Onyx Gem was a very comfortable townhome. It was easy to get to, not far from the main road, but quiet and peaceful. It's a small townhome, but for my husband and me, it was just fine. It would also be good for a couple with small children, although they would sleep upstairs in the loft. The living area was small, but comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, but only two chairs for dining at the very small table. The two items we needed, but thankfully brought with us, were Kleenex tissues and napkins. We enjoyed breakfast at The Old Post Office, shopping at The Robin's Nest, and having a very nice birthday dinner at Lanza's Restaurant. We also walked to the beach and sat at a picnic table for quite awhile enjoying the lake and beautiful sky."

"An amazing Stay at Lake Tahoe
We went to LT for a wedding. The beauty is just breathtaking. Clear water in the lake, beautiful skies and amazing mountains with snow tops! Ample trails of all levels and awesome skylines. The Onyx Gem was a clean and simple accommodation. I would give it 4 stars - some nicks and damages, though minor could have been repaired before we came. Otherwise, it was plesant."

We had a very nice time at Onyx Gem. Everything in the unit was as expected through the pictures. First accommodations office was prompt in response to questions about our stay. Beds were comfortable and fireplace was very nice for a chilly, snow winter visit. Would recommend and/or stay here again. "

"FANTASTIC!!
This rental was perfect for our family of 3. The location was perfect for all our events and easy to get to them. The townhouse was quiet and so peaceful. We walked to the beach in about 3 minutes. It was hard to find a place that would accommodate us all. This was perfect! My wife is disabled and needed a place with no stairs, for the main living and a bedroom. She was able to enjoy all the family gatherings. It was a little difficult getting to the door as the walkway was sloped and right at the door, the steepest. We were able to find the best path and everything worked well. We enjoyed our stay so much, we wanted to stay longer. Thank you for hosting us. We made great memories. "

"Great for a family of four weekend getaway to ski!
The condo was clean and nicely decorated--it has been a bit updated since these photos were taken. The kitchen is not super updated but we didn't use it to cook--just had takeout and it did have amenities to make coffee, etc. Was wishing for some plastic bags or tin foil for leftovers but not a big deal. The Smart TV and fireplace were great--the place was quiet and we all slept well. King bed in the master is a bit on the soft side but still slept well after skiing we were too tired to not sleep! Complex is quiet and easy parking. We loved all of the Tahoe maps to look at--nice décor and felt very "Tahoe" and cozy. We'd stay again. "

Rental was nice. It is very small. With noticeable wear and tear. But still nice. There was construction next door for roof leak when I was there. Pounding, sawing, drilling , people on roof. Following that day lots of banging and clanging as cleaning crew cleaned up the repair mess. 1st accommodations review was that I shouldn’t stay in a condo cause I complained. My response is that I shouldn’t have been charged and they should have been more sympathetic to a guest staying next to a construction zone. When the very noisy cleaning crew, thumping son walls etc left they had a cart filled with multiple large trash bags. My experience has been it’s always better to stay in place managed by the person who owns it."

Cozy condo that is perfect for 4 people. Layout is essentially a typical 1BR condo with a loft. Nice access to Squaw and Northstar and other amenities.
Did not like having to use a third party process with separate bookings and paperwork to actually reserve this thing. I do not think should permit this as it is not what the service is for. "

The photo is exaggerated on the size of the townhouse. Much smaller than picture reveals.
The supplies in the kitchen were scant.
There was a blood stain on the extra bedspread which was extremely unappealing. Throw it away ~

"Fantastic Rental, Surprise 3rd Party Rental Company Communication
Overall this is a GREAT rental property! It’s within walking distance of a few restaurants, the Sierra Boat Company, marina, mini golf, and Carnelian Bay where there’s a pebble beach with kayak/SUP rentals and a beach cafe.
The rental is very clean, exactly like the pictures on the website. Master bed is comfy. Pillows are super thin. We ended up grabbing the pillows from upstairs for extra comfort. There were thicker pillows in the master closet but no extra linens for use. No A/C but each room is equipped with a small fan (a box fan is provided for the living room) and nice windows that crank open so you can let in the cool mountain air while you sleep. We didn’t have any trouble staying cool.
I feel like the property’s affiliation with should be disclosed/added to the rental listing to avoid confusion for future renters. When I booked through and got the confirmation email, I thought my rental was set to go (just like any other rental through the website). Nope. All of ’ emails went to my junk email and I didn’t even realize I had more paperwork/emails to respond to before my arrival. They ended up calling me 2 weeks before my arrival and we got everything worked out. Just wish I would have known!
I will say that it IS very dark, especially in the living room/kitchen area, due to low natural light sources. It didn’t bother us, since we were gone most of the day, but something to consider if you plan to be “home” during the daylight hours. A positive to the “cave-like” nature of the rental is that it stays very cool throughout the day even when it’s hot outside.
Overall, we’d 100% stay at this rental again! It was perfect for our summer vacation to Tahoe!"

"Lovely place walk to the beach
Lovely town home with 1 bedroom downstairs and a loft with sleeping space for 3. Best thing about this place was it’s prox to the beach, just a half block away. We didn’t get to use any of the great amenities due to our short stay, but they looked great.
If there was anything I would change it would be to provide better lighting. If you want sunshine this is not the place for you. The woods are great, but felt like we were in a cave in the daytime. Just a few brighter bulbs would held. All lights very low wattage. The master bed was also really soft. Great for many but I prefer a firmer mattress.
Overall a nice rental. Would love to spend more time there. "

"Location and relaxation
My partner and another couple spent a relaxing weekend at the Onxy Gem. The location was ideal for exploring the area and it was quick walk to the beach and restaurants. The condo was clean and nice, and had a fully stocked kitchen which we utilized when we stayed in one night for dinner. I would definitely come back!!! "

The Onyx Gem was the perfect place for the 3 of us to stay for a few days in North Lake Tahoe. The condo suited our needs perfectly and it was conveniently located to many things we wanted to do. My husband was very sick with Lyme disease but the urgent care clinic in Tahoe City was convenient as was the hospital in Incline (in case you need medical attention!) The primary improvement I could suggest would be to have a hairdryer in one of the bathrooms. Other than that we all agreed it was a great place to stay. "

"My husbands birthday ??
After a long drive it was so nice to find our cozy condo .. nicely furnished and comfortable.. On Friday a storm hit and it snowed all day !! Our electricity went out for about an hour but a very nice man at the phone number provided walked us through getting the heat back on .. in the morning we woke to find someone shoveling our walk way !! We will definitely come back !! It was a wonderful 3 days !!"

This unit was perfect. A very short walk to the lake's edge and with a beautiful outdoor pool, nicely maintained tennis courts and excellent staff on site. Quiet but with enough activity to look alive, we would not hesitate to rent from these owners again. In fact, we'd seek it out specifically.

"Love Lake Tahoe
The townhome is located about 10 minutes from Kings Beach. It was very clean and everything worked. It's a great place to stay and be comfortable. The only downside was the pool was not open the days that we stayed, but overall it's in a nice area and neighborhood. I would definitely stay there again. "

"Ski trip success!
We had a great time in Tahoe! The townhome was clean, had all the equipment we needed to make a big pot of chili, and was walking distance from the old post office cafe. We were within a half hour of several ski resorts, downtown Tahoe City, or King's Beach. The amenities were great (clubhouse with mini-arcade and pool tables, as well as jacuzzis and sauna!), and we would definitely stay here for future trips! :)"

As good as advertised. Very clean with nice comfortable furnishings. Nice Entertainment center in the living room as well as the master bedroom. The internet was fast and the AppleTV made it easy to watch streaming media. The fireplace was convenient and warm. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook full meals. Short drive to Safeway as well as a variety of restaurants."

"Good service
We probably wouldn't have had any interaction with had it not been for the cable/internet connection going down. We stopped by the office and they said they'd look into it and get back to us. I suppose I'm cynical but I put the chances of that happening right up there with being hit by a meteorite. But a little later I received a text from Cynthia saying that she had arranged for the cable company to come out for repairs the following evening, and in the meantime provided us with a nearby wifi signal that we could piggyback. Pretty sweet. The cable repair person showed up the following evening and we were back in business. The wifi came in handy because cell reception is pretty bad in that area and it was very convenient to have wifi for planning.

"Lovely Place to Stay in Tahoe
This was our first time visiting Lake Tahoe and we're so glad we chose this wonderful little condo! It saved us a lot of money on food since it has a full kitchen. The loft upstairs is adorable and very accomodating if you have more than one couple staying. It's very clean and updated with a small balcony that even has a grill. The location was great, just a short walk to King's Beach and a short drive to Sand Harbor. The only complaint I would leave is that the internet didn't work most of the time. The connection kept going in and out. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Lake Tahoe which I hope is sooner rather than later!"

overall I liked the property. The bathroom extras only consisted of soap, shampoo and conditioner would be nice. The carpets were quite dirty, I inky know this because my daughters pants picked up a lot of dirt while crawling. The shoe/boot caddy is well past the tile area so maybe people thought wearing shoes on the carpet was OK, I am not sure.
The tub wouldn't hold water initially but with a lot of trial and error I was able to set the drain correctly. The hot water heater is also set quite scalding hot, seems unnecessary and expensive for Trent."

There's no other place I look for when my family and I spend either a weekend getaway or a long vacation in Lake Tahoe, but . Customer service has always been great and the townhomes and cabins/houses are well equipped and fit our needs. I'm always coming back."

"Comfortable, clean, updated lodging
This was our second year staying at Carnelian Woods but first at Onyx Gem, which has obviously been recently renovated throughout and furnished with quality materials. The beds and linens are very comfortable. It was nice having extra space in the loft upstairs. The only downsides are that it lacks a regular, family-friendly dining table and regular toaster, and the unit is rather dark. Everything was great, and the property manager even alerted us that Maintenance would come in to change a light bulb she had noticed out. Thanks! We'll consider it for next year. "

My stay at onyx gem stay was good. The house was very nice but the housekeeper were slow at cleaning the place. The place was not done cleaning until an hour and half later from the check-in time. Other yuan that it was really awesome."
