The property was clean and neat, plenty of rooms for our group and it was convenient to the main hwy or road, as well as to the nearest grocery store Safeway. Lastly, the service and communication with was great, they are very helpful and quick at response. We’ll definitely rent here again if it come across and if available on our dates. "

"It rental was fine.
The rental was fine. It appears that someone should go through the rental and throw out all the items left from previous tenants. Everything there looks like it has been left from previous people. It’s all old doesn’t match. Lots of **** in all the drawers. The rental itself is fine and as described in the write up. Note the deck fits 2 people, no more, very small. It just really needs to be cleaned up and all new items in the kitchen would make you feel like the place was taken care off.

This place was perfect. The location was great, only a 6 minute walk to the lake. The home was clean and had all the basic you will need. The rental property company were so quick to answer any I had. The place was perfect for my family of 10. I will definitely be coming back! "

Great unit to stay at. MAJOR ISSUE: At no time during booking/billing process, did it state that the pool woud be closed on Sunday & Monday due to staffing issues. It is only mentioned on the HOA site. Minor issue: The unit did not have any broom available."

"Nice Place
Our group really loved staying here. Spacious for our group of 7 and located in a great spot near the lake. We walked to the coffee shop on the lake every morning for breakfast. We'll be back for sure!"

"Condo in Tahoe
We loved our stay at Carnelian Bay! We came with a group of 8 women—we were all on the same floor in the dorms our freshman year and have stayed tight ever since. We all turn 40 this year and we came here to celebrate and loved every minute of it. The condo was clean and perfectly suitable for our group. We loved the forest view and the proximity to the lake. Thanks for a great weekend! We can’t stop thinking about it."

"A cozy place for the family
Everything was lovely for our weeklong stay! It is a nice neighborhood to vacation in! Carnelian Bay is close to everything from the lakeside, rafting, miniature golf, restaurants, shopping, Incline Village for gambling, and of course the wonderful amenities at the home (barbecue and lake gear) plus the pool, hot tub, arcade, and billiards table. We loved how quiet and peaceful the home was—we saw people but rarely heard others. The only issue we had were a few kitchen staples were missing, and we would have liked full blackout shades in the bedrooms (the sun comes up around 4:15 in the summers). Otherwise, a wonderful stay! "

"Family time in Tahoe!
Location was perfect for our needs. The condo had all the amenities, kitchen was well stock with items needed. Loved the fireplace especially in the cool mornings drinking coffee and chatting about the day’s plans. Found the air conditioner to be a bit of a challenge, could not get it to work. Overall it was great, we had wonderful time with great memories. "

"Cozy get-away condo
We arrived in a snowstorm and were happy to find the roads accessible and plowed. The condo heated up right away and we felt so warm and cozy sitting in front of the easily lit fireplace. Once it was daylight, we were pleasantly surprised to see the amazing views and scenery visible from every window! We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this condo to others."

"Basic stay
Good for a quick trip and low maintenance guests. The location is near palisades. The facilities are too far away in the complex to actually use them. You have to drive to get to the hot tub in the winter. It was a tight squeeze to fit 6 people in the living room and table. However there were enough beds. Overall I just felt that this place was doing the bare minimum for their guests. For example, they do not provide basic necessities like body wash and shampoo. The complex also doesn’t recycle which was disappointing. The oven mitts had holes in them so we burned our hands when baking.
For my next Tahoe trip I’ll probably stay somewhere else. "

"Highly recommend
The Forest Retreat is a great rental option. The location is brilliant and the condo itself is very nice. It was super clean, had plenty of supplies and a fully stocked kitchen. We did not use the pool or hot tub because it was snowing, but can attest to the great maintenance provided for plowing and shoveling.
The only diss on this place is the HVAC at night. There is a huge temperature difference between bedrooms on each floor. So just know you will need the extra comforter on the 1st floor and plan to sleep in shorts if you are on the second. It's not an issue when everyone is awake and moving around, just something we couldn't seem to get right at night. "

"Clean, Convenient, Well-Stocked, Gets the Job Done!
Great location, especially if you're looking to ski Northstar/Squaw and want to avoid the traffic coming off the 80 in the morning. Owners were very responsive and helpful leading up to the stay, and everything was as promised in the unit itself. As is to be expected in winter settings, the strength of the heating in each room can vary somewhat, so prep accordingly. Other than that, a great spot for a weekend shredding the slopes."

Because of the coronavirus, our whole family really needed this vacation this year. The stay at Carnelian Woods was great. The three units we had (#39, #37 and #28) were all very comfortable. Over all, a wonderful experience. "

"Clean and nice place to stay if no other options are available
We were total 2 families and we liked the house and community but on our first day there was a power outage for 3-4 hours and for almost all day no internet service. Garbage disposal was not working.. overall it was ok but management asked us to leave home by 10:30 am the latest. Management didn’t give us any extra time to stay dispute all the issues we had. Also they didn’t tell to compensate for power outage or internet services etc and House was so hot from inside and AC was not working.. only heater works..hope they check all things working before renting to the guest. I would go with 2 stars "

"Perfect Location for a Cozy Snow Trip
I rented the Forest Retreat for a New Year's Eve trip with 6 other friends, and it served us perfectly. There was plenty of space for everyone and lots to do nearby for those who didn't ski. We had everything we needed to make many meals there, and were close enough---within then minutes---to King's Beach and Tahoe City to dine out or get groceries. Plus we were only 20 minutes from Alpine, Squaw, and Northstar. My only complaint is that the check-out is early (10 AM) but the hosts were accommodating enough to give us an extra hour. I would definitely stay again."

"Convenient and accommodating stay
The house was well located and accommodated 10 people comfortably. The kitchen and living room make for a great space for preparing food and gathering with friends and family. The house stocked a few board games, too!
Parking for two cars was easy to find and near the house. We were able to park an additional car near the recreation center, about a 5-minute drive away. We didn't make use of the recreation center, so can't comment on the hot tubs. We felt that the rental cost was affordable, so weren't too picky about those amenities.
Two of the bedrooms (with king beds) were downstairs, which didn't get much heating, and made for rather cold nights. It would be nice if the property management could stock additional blankets for this reason. "

"Perfect Winter Getaway
The property it self was very nice and clean. There was an issue with the original rental and the company was very prompt and accommodating to upgrade my group to this place. Great property management. Easy check-in, easy check-out. We even saw a bobcat from the balcony! "

Overall happy with this vacation rental. Great location, close to Northstar and close to Safeway. Property was clean, but the carpets are a little worn. The bedding was a little dated. Also, the temperature on the bottom floor was very cold, a bit difficult to regulate. Property managers were easy to work with, quick to respond. Overall, I would stay here again."

"Carnelian Bay Condo
The condo is spacious. We were two families with 4 young kids, 4 adults and had plenty of room. And the condo was clean. It is also fairly centrally located for either a cold or warm weather stay as it's close to the lake and a 20 minute drive from Northstar.
The downfall of this property is how old linens and kitchen items are. These all need to be upgraded. "

"The perfect cozy getaway
This was a perfect spot for us to celebrate with friends! We had 8 people comfortably stay in this home, with quick access to Squaw for skiing. The view on a snow weekend was breathtaking, and playing games in front of the warm fire was exactly what we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed, was roomy for us to cook together, and the closets for storing our skis kept everything organized. The property management was incredibly responsive and exceeded our expectations. I hope to return and highly recommend this rental to anyone!"

"Perfect of Multi-Generational Family Trip!
What a perfect spot for our family! We had three generations (grandparents, two kids (+partners) and two grandkids) all here and it was perfect. The kids took the loft (which did mean we all had to be quiet in the kitchen/living room at bedtime, but we kept them up late so it didn't affect too much), the grandparents and kids-free took the downstairs, and the parents took the room on the main floor. Everyone had their own space, but the common area was perfect for all coming together. The location had absolutely everything you could need - walk to the water (about five minutes), a few great eats in walking distance, mini-golf, pool, running trails. Plus, even though it's a townhouse, when you are sitting in the main room, you can't see a single other building - you feel like you are completely secluded in the forest. The townhouse also had everything we needed. Heads up: if you have little kids, the spacing on the rails/stairs could be a little tricky (we definitely had to drill into our four- and five-year-old not to stick their heads/body parts through), but it really wasn't an issue for us since they are big enough to listen! All in all - loved it! The grandparents made sure that I would save this spot so that we can go back!!"

I would have given this rental 5 stars in every category, however upon arriving we discovered the dish washer was broken. We had to call for maintenance. Also no dish towels were provided so we had to call for those as well. The nice part was someone was sent out right away for repairs and to send dish towels."

The owners BOOK on the table for comments, from the person who left the morning before we left, talks about "FLEAS" and the bed sheets not being changed, we found no such problem. We were very satisfied.
We have only 1 request. In the DVD Player, my 7-year old son left a Christmas Present, the DVD "Despicable Me". May I request that you "knock on the door" with the current people and ask for this DVD. We would be happy to reimburse you office for postage. Please confirm found and send regular mail. "Concerns about No. 39 Carnellian Woods.
We enjoyed our stay at Carnellian Woods and the space in the unit was fine. The kitchen had been redone recently and was well equipped. However there were some problems which need to be addressed by the owner.
1) The carpet was very dirty. There were black stains on three of the stairs we saw immediately when entering the unit and the whole living room rug needed cleaning.
2)The dishwasher seemed to run but made no washing sounds during the cycle and the dishes were consistently dirty when we took them out of the dishwasher. We often had to wash the dishes again by hand before eating. On the last morning we had nine people to get out of the house by 10:00. We put the dishes away from the dish washer and hand washed breakfast dishes since no dish was to be left in the dishwasher. We did not have time to rewash dishes from the dishwasher. First Accommodation complained and want to charge us $60 for dish washing.
3) Twice on our stay the toilets would not flush. We corrected the problem using the plunger which fortunately was available.
4) The lockbox worked fine except that the little black tab that hold it in the box fell out twice. We were able to replace it and it worked. A third time it fell out and we were unable to locate the tab as we had done before. We reported this to the management before leaving.
The management was helpful and pleasant when we had questions or problems to solve and the pool and hot tubs were enjoyed by our group.

My alumnni group has stayed in this complex a number of times over the years on ski trips, and once again, everything was great.
Only minor complaint is the parking pass hassle ... especially as we were about the only cars there that weekend."
