We were very happy with our rental unit. It was a joy to open the door and see the sunshine light up the whole place, it felt so welcoming. We are a family of four with Grandma and Grandpa staying right next door!

Found the condo very tired. Large carpet stains, pealing wallpaper. Dishes and pots and pans had food dried on them.
The resort itself was very nice. Pool was clean, beach was nice. "

We got to enjoy family time together and loved every minute. We always love Palm Island as our home away from home. This villa was nicely furnished and well equipped with all that you need in the kitchen. There are a few things that need to be updated but you can expect that with any rental property. We saw the best sunset views right from the back porch! Great location too."

"One of the worst mini vacations
I had heard good things about the resort but was very disappointed. Not only did the other guest staying with us find a huge cockroach in his bathroom and a spider but I found a spider on my pillow when I tried to go to bed. Also the lights went out in our building Friday,our first night there. I was unable to enjoy my night or do anything. I tried to go to bed since I was in the dark anyways and sweated horribly throughout the night until the lights finally came back on (in the middle of the night). It was a very uncomfortable sleep. I came to the island for a wedding which went well and was very beautiful. I do wish that I had just come over for the wedding itself and not stayed any nights here. I am aware that the lights going out was not the resorts fault but they didn’t do much to make sure the guests were okay or to even refund them for the night. Most places have back up generators or something to help in case of emergencies. This is supposed to be a resort for guests to stay at and should have accommodations for such. I could have stayed home for free in the dark just the same. Again I know that it was not the resorts fault the power went out but I wasn’t satisfied with the response to the power going out. I was very hopeful about my stay when I first arrived. I was told that I could get a discount if I came again but I don’t know if I would risk it. "

"Dissapointed
We stayed at this resort previously and loved it! Unfortunately, this time we were dissapointed. The unit we stayed in was not maintained as well. We did not get the same feel at all. There was considerable beach erosion which we understand can not be helped but the huge dredgers on and off shore did not help."

"one of my favorite places
my husband and i have been going to palm island for approximately thirty years. we have enjoyed every time we go there. it's a very special place. my husband likes to take the golf cart and go to stump pass to fish. the beach and pools are never crowded, but then we never go during public holidays. the last place we stayed was a little dated (older appliances, needed a little paint) but still was wonderful."

's pristine, old Florida style beaches were the perfect escape from our busy life. We spent 3 days and 2 nights in a state of blissful relaxation complete with great food at Rum Bay Restaurant and Leverock's, work outs at the Fitness Center and even a Pirate show. The villas are lovely and well-appointed. What a fabulous place! The staff are great too!"

we hadn't been back to Palm Island in 10 years for personal reasons and were so worried to find things different form the wonderful experience we had before. But everything was unchanged and was simply fantastic. Only problem: waiting for the bell hop for 40 minutes on the day of departure was nerve wrecking."

BV 3512 was merely in fair condition. The master bathroom toilet was in semi working order; the phone did not work at all. Additionally, all of the bedding felt as though it needed cleaning. We rent all the time and so have the opportunity to see many units. This one, although well located, could use some updating."

"Beautiful island stay with privacy and comforts
Our stay at the Palm Island resort was nice, even though we were go-go-go the whole time. We visited with a large group of friends for a wedding so it wasn't a typical relaxing family vacation.
The condo was in good condition, though we did have a couple of roaches, and the view was decent but it was mostly of the pool/courtyard. We had a ground level "deluxe" and I liked that there were back stairs to the courtyard which the upper story condos didn't have. Some of the other ground level condos had better views of the beach itself but they were "standard" quality. It was either sacrifice a nice view for slightly updated amenities or get the view with outdated decor. I would have chosen the standard room had I known (and saved money in the process.)
The Rum Bay restaurant was decent, the beaches were excellent and very low population so it was very private and clean. There are TONS of shells ripe for the picking. The wildlife is amazing: we saw turtles, dolphins, crabs, birds, armadillos, rabbits, a manatee even. There is plenty to explore and things to do with kids if you have them.
My only bone to pick would be the fact that cars are not allowed (which is really cool) but the price for renting a golf cart is $50/day. It's a total racket and they know that people will pay anyway because it's almost a necessity to get anywhere farther than next door. To put it into perspective, a rental car from the airport was cheaper than any of the shuttles they suggested and cheaper for four days than the golf cart was for one. So be prepared to shell out some cash on transport for all stages of your travels.
Overall it was beautiful weather and location. If we ever come back it will definitely be for relaxing and family time, and we will rent a place with a better view, possibly one of the standalone houses. "

"Vacation getaway in August
Palm Island was very unknown to us living so close by. It was recently referred to us by a friend. The place is wonderful for a quick get-a-way.
The unit itself was pretty clean and wonderful location to pool and beach. It was little small for us would definitely have to go larger in space the next time we go there.
The situation did not end there as we then had a housekeeper show up at the front door at 1030 and ask when would we be out, told her by 11 to 1130 as I was waiting on my husband and son to return from fishing, she then set all her cleaning supplies outside the door and proceeded to wait until we left. Working at a resort I know this is a complete waste of staff time and efficiency to stand "guard" at our door and make us feel like we were causing them a huge inconvenience. I know how hard staff work and made sure to clean was much as possible to lighten the load for the housekeeper, normally I would have tipped, but felt like we were being harassed to get out. This was the only real negative of the stay.
Can't say enough about the staff at Coconuts! So personable as the resort was relatively quiet as is ours at this time..Wonderful group of people and the Taxi shuttle drivers to the mainland for our dinner were wonderful! We even had a dolphin escort one night while on the boat! Great treat for all of us! Even though we live in Florida you can never see enough dolphins! My husband and son had a blast fishing and are looking forward to a return visit!"

I had rented 3 units 2 one bedroom and 1 two bedroom villa. We were in 3311, 3313 and 3324. We had other family members in 3 other villas. All were fine except for 3324 it really needs an update or it should not be rented out."

"Vacation 2014
Palm Island is the most relaxing vacation we have had in a long time. We rented paddle boards and boogie boards for the kids. We all had snorkeling gear. One day it rained but that was good since we had too much sun the day before. We went on an awesome kayak tour with Kris the activities director( seriously the best tour we have ever been on, she is so knowledgeable and made sure we saw dolphin,an upside down jelly fish and manatee) The staff was the best, even with the guy who was upset he couldn't use the pool or go in the gulf because it was storming out. It was hurricane season, sir, its kind of likely that there will be a rainy day, and remember at least you don't live in Nebraska. Go play a board game with your kids or check out a movie from the front reception area, you are on an island and the view is gorgeous rain or shine. We will definitely be back and only wish we could afford a vacation home there.Our condo was very nice, had everything we needed, clean, well maintained and was very comfortable, with a fantastic view of the gulf and beach. Don't forget to stop at the Publix before you get on the ferry to get basics if you don't want to eat out at every meal. Although Rum Bay restaurant has delicious food and the staff will let you know whats good that day. Also the Wed special of appetizers 2 for 1 are generous portions and what a great way to try it all with out spending alot of money. Our wait staff there (Willis?) was the best, he made sure everyone was happy.This was our second time on the island and both times we had excellent experiences."

"Best getaway in this neck of the woods
We live in Tampa and have been to Palm Island many times. Always a great experience. With no public vehicles on the resort, it is quiet and safe. The property is immaculate and services excellent. Friendly and helpful staff are a big part of their success. "

We had a great time at your resort. Our condo was very does need to be updated. We felt like we stepped into the 1980's. We had read bad reviews about the on site restaurant, so we went to Leverocks thinking it was part of a restaurant chain. Upon arrival we learned it was not. The food was horrible. Salad was not fresh and grouper sandwich was very small and was not grouper. It was like a piece of frozen fish heated in a microwave. Wasted 100.00. So if you go to this resort take your own food. The pool doesn't have any umbrella's. Would be nice to drop off golf cart at check out office.We checked out and had to drive the cart backand then waited on bell hop to come and get us. He never came so we had to walk all the way to our car with 2 children. When got to the gate the bell guy was up there talking. "

"Our annual return
This was our 20th year vacationing at Palm Island. It started with 1 villa and this year we had 3 villas for the week since our family has been growing. The weather was great and we had a wonderful time with our kids and grandkids as always. We had a couple of maintenance problems with the refrigerator, freezer and ice-maker which took a couple of days to rectify. Jim from maintenance did what he could, but we had to duct tape the freezer door for the whole time we were there. The most negative experience we had was with the bellman, Jeff. Unfortunately we had him when we checked in and when we checked out. On arriving he was very curt and not very friendly in welcoming us. It didn't look like he liked his job. When we were leaving it was worse. He complained about having to come back a couple of times and we had words with him and he was very rude. This was totally unlike any Palm Island experience we have ever had. Your bell men are the first guys on the line upon arrival and they need to be the most hospitable. I feel reluctant to write this about Jeff, however, I own a service business, and I would want to know if one of my employees was disrespectful to my clients. "

"Family Palm Island Trip
This was our second stay at Palm Island and we will definately be back again! Although the weather was terrible, it rained everyday accept the day we left of course, we still enjoyed our time in the room and trying to utilize as many amenities the resort has to offer. The kids love all the different names like "Sharks Tooth Beach" and my husband named several other places " Secret Beach" (the area past sharks tooth beach) and the "Musical Pond" with all it's surrounding nature sounds at night. We loved outings on the golf carts and visits to Coconuts for ice cream! The pizza was yummy too :) All in all I would definately recommend Palm Island for your family or just a couples get away we loved it either way!!!"

Overall, the weekend we spent at was fantastic. The staff was courteous, energetic, fun, and professional. We enjoyed the room and amenities as well. The condo was clean and provided everything we needed. Maintenance had just finished defrosting our refrigerator when we checked in, so it took a while to get cold again, but we did not have perishable foods, so it wasn't an issue. By the next morning it was fine. We ate dinner and lunch at the Palm Bay restaurant, and the staff was excellent. The food was average in its taste and preparation. We are native Floridians, so our bar is set high when it comes to seafood. All in all, the resort is a great place to enjoy a vacation, and we will return again."

"Wonderful quiet vacation - designed for a getaway
We have been to Palm island resort before and were returning guests. A two bedroom beachfront condo was rented - this is a vacation home rental rented out by owners when its not in use. The property was nice, but we spent most of our time on the beautiful, secluded beach and at the pool. We have multiple young children under 5, and it was an absolute pleasure to allow them to run around on the beach without worry. If we saw another family on the beach 100 yards down, it was a lot. A private, secluded space for your vacation - we cooked all our meals while there and only left the island twice."

"Great Stay, But!
My family and I have stayed at Palm Island for the past 16 years. We have always had a great stay. This year Kelly help me with our reservations and my numerous phone calls to get everything perfect for our 5 children and their families stay. As usual she went beyond her duties and made our stay memorable again. We were disappointed in one of the units 3312 the dishwasher broke and leaked on the carpet and my son and his wife and twins were without a kitchen for an afternoon and the next morning. Other than that we all had one of the best stays at Palm Island and if we can afford it next year we will be back. Thanks again to Kelly and the staff at the reservation desk.

"Extended Family Getaway
Where can 4 families and their patriarch getaway together? Look no further than . Every family had a wonderful time together and alone in our own separate villas. Everyone, from age 4 to 77, enjoyed the resort activities - lounging, swimming, splashing in the pool or ocean, fishing, tracking lizards, armadillos and manatees, walking on the beach, and delicious dinners at Rum Bay Restaurant. The villas and island setting are absolutely beautiful and well cared for. Our families have vacationed at for 15+ years and will be back next year. "

"8th year on the Island
We love Palm Island....we have stayed in 3313 for the past 3 years....we love the location and convenience of a bottom unit...toured other units this year and saw that owners have updated. We noticed that 3313 had put in new tile and new carpet (why carpet?) My only suggestion would be for the owners to continue with updating. Some fresh paint on the walls, the bedding needs to be udated as well as the master bathroom. We noticed that in the master bathroom that the toilet was not secure to the floor after the new tile was put in. Also the medicine cabinet was coming off of the wall! The kitchen could use some new supplies. Knives, serving dishes....simple additions to make it easier for guests to feel at home."

Maybe an updated flat screen tv and a tv in the master bedroom would be an added amenity. Also only the second bedroom has a blow dryer it would have been nice to have one in the master bedroom. Some updated dvds and music again would be nice. Overall our stay was great and the accomodations worked perfect for us.
Being right outside the pool was a plus and of course the sunsets are the best !!
