Sitting on 1.5 acre property which borders the old Arcata - Mad River Railroad line that was established in 1880, this 1000 sq. ft. custom designed home built in 2006 has a newly remodeled interior and upgraded deck. It is located less than a 1/2 mile from two River parks w/sandy beaches, grassy fields, picnic tables, bbq grills, swimming, sunbathing, fishing, frisbee-golf , less than 5 miles to Cal Poly Humboldt and the Arcata Plaza, Community Forest and bird marsh.

This newly remodeled home will quickly become your home away from home when visiting Arcata! It truly has it all and was set up to meet five star standards. A private driveway and ample parking for 2-4 cars. It is located on a adjacent property: West End Retreat (3 bed/ 2 bath) which can be rented separately and combined with this two King bed one bath (River Way Cottage) for a great family or friend reunion for 10 people with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in total. These homes are approximately 200 feet apart offering ample privacy when rented separately but close enough when rented together for a convenient shared experience.

The home is filled with artful décor that include a mix of antiques and mid-century modern furnishings. Radiant heat throughout the house makes keeps it nice and warm. Tile and wood flooring throughout with beautiful floor rugs provide extra warmth and comfort. The open room concept living room, dining room and kitchen makes for easy gathering. A 40" flat screen Samsung TV Plus and access to your Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO+ accounts will entertain TV watchers plus games, puzzles, an art basket with coloring books and drawing supplies, a variety of books for children and adults and blue tooth speaker for music lovers. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

The newly remodeled kitchen is beautifully appointment with Shaker-style cabinets, birch countertops, a z-line stove with gas cooktop and electric oven, quiet dishwasher, stainless steel fridge and sink and antique island with seating for two. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything guests need to enjoy cooking a great meal. It even provides a coffee and tea bar.

Two spacious bedrooms each with new king size mattress, bedframe and desk with USB charging ports create comfortable workspaces when needed. High quality linens (West Elm, Annie Selke and DKNY) and towels provided for comfort and style. The full bathroom has a shower (no tub) and new quartz sink vanity. New washer and dryer available for guest use.

Guests will enjoy the large private deck (350 sq ft) overlooking the forest. It is set up with a table and chairs and propane BBQ grill. The small covered side porch has two Adirondack chairs great for morning coffee/tea and watching wildlife like deer. The large yard with fruit trees provide extra fun for guests who visit in the summer and Fall and are welcome to enjoy fruit in season (apples, cherries, plums and blackberries). There is abundant wildlife and great bird habitat so bring your binoculars!
